The Drivers CPC - not to be confused with the Operators CPC - is extra training for professional lorry and bus drivers.

There is the LGV Drivers CPC for lorry drivers and PCV Drivers CPC for bus drivers.

Not everybody is required to undertake the drivers CPC, only drivers who drive for a living, even casual or occasional drivers!

There are two different Drivers CPC's. There is the "Initial Qualification", and the "Periodic Training".

Initial Qualification

The Initial Qualification is for new drivers who are taking their LGV driving test. Once driving test candidates have passed all four modules, they then become fully qualified truck drivers and have five years in which time to under-go their Periodic Training which will cover them for another five years, and so on.

Periodic Training

The Periodic Training is for existing drivers who already hold their LGV driving licence. Professional drivers have until 9th September 2014 to complete their five days of CPC training, which will then cover them for the next five years, and so on.
